Beauty In Hard Places

This month's cycle has been a whirlwind of new beginnings, endings, uncertainties, revelations, and reckonings. At the left is a picture of the Venus & Saturn (can't see Saturn too well*) conjunction that happened during this month's full moon. In short form, Venus is about abundance, bounty, moistness, creation of beauty, union, and culture; Saturn is about separation for purposes of development, occlusion, bitter taste, and dryness. Their union in the sky (conjunction) has given us the opportunity to blend these two energies in our lives in supportive ways--not always an easy task, hence the title of this post "Beauty In Hard Places". This union, came on the heels of the Het Heru and Heru rituals of celebrations of love. We may be left wondering this month "where's the love?" Even eternal lovers Het Heru and Heru separated to go on with their visions and purposes. I'm learning that even in the midst of suffering and difficulty love is there. It is always there. The solitude that Saturn can bring during this time can be used to communicate with those deeper Self essences that we sometimes forget. Venus softens Saturn; Saturn strengthens Venus. May not be the stuff of romantic fantasies but these two work beautifully together...beauty in hard places. *photo from www.spaceweather.com

Tantric Astrology And The Yoga Of Presence

As I write this we are well into the Krisna Paksha (3rd quarter waning phase) of the moon cycle when Mother Kali is doing her transformative nitya dance. In Tantric astrology the nityas are the waxing and waning lunar days in the cycle. The waxing days are ruled by Lalita and Kali rules the waning phase. In the nakshatra Ashvini which we are currently experiencing in our own unique ways; 8 degrees Aries we have extremely favorable energies available for delving into personal healing practices along with the Kali nitya of Ugrabrahba where there is raw power. Standing still in this moment of time I see the gift of allowing these energies to work through my stubborn nature releasing and spiraling me out of my creative ruts. The beauty of astrology is that in each moment there is a signature energy available which awaits our permission of conscious participation. Only when we consciously open to the vortex of the present moment can this unique song of the universe tone through our being.

Whispering Full Moon

Sometimes the full moon energies are subtle in meaning. This past weekend's full moon was one of those. What to do with fanfare and outrageous behavior? Hot emotions and feelings of isolation. The chance for quiet and reflection was there and spiritual expansion with the full moon Nakshatras Uttara Ashada and Shravana in sidereal Sagittarius and early Capricorn and perhaps a somewhat meloncholy time with the Saturn and Venus conjunction in sidereal Cancer in the Nakshaktra Ashlesha (self involved, sexy, hypnotic, demanding). The isolation may have been deafening and the yearning for union and merging very strong this past weekend. After having time to digest the energies I would say I'm definitely closer to understanding my own relationship needs. We were given the grace and juice to integrate and create joyful direction at the beginning of this cycle; during the waning phase savor the flavors in union and separation as we have tasted both in this short span.
